As I was saying. Dad and I took the cars out and shot a few photos late one fall afternoon.

I picked up the Eagle for fairly cheap, but it did have a few problems. Number one was to splice a pipe into the exhaust. I think she dropped the price quite a bit due to the fact it sounded like a stock car.

Just spent 160 bucks on a wheel alighnment and a steering stabilizer shock. All other steering and front end parts were OK.
The gas gauge didn't work. We found the float was full of gas !
As with all my 258's the first thing was to install new intake and exhaust gaskets. They run like crap when raw air is leaking into the combution chambers.
The really big pain in the ass is that the 4X4 has been disconnected. I have a manual coming from E-Bay, and hope we can figure out how to reconnect the vacuum lines. Then we will no doubt find out the transfer case is junk.
In a winter car 4 wheel would be a blast.
The Eagle seems to have way more power, but it has the 2 bbl. However the Pacer is faster as it is automatic, and shifts faster than the four speed.
The front seat cushions on the Eagle are shredded. It will only see seat covers for now, and maybe forever. Not wise to invest mega bucks in an AMC unless it's a Javelin or an AMX. The back seats are mint, but who but an idiot would want to spend any time in that tiny rear seat?
This is the interior of the pacer. 100% original and no rips. I got a new set of custom carpets as a grade 12 grad present.
Thankfully now the Pacer will not have to see the salty roads and slush that killed all the other Pacers
Just like this one which we were given FREE access to along with the red one you saw on the first photo page. We drove 100 miles to find the two of them and there really wasn't a whole lot left of them when we got there. We did however coome home with a full 1/2 ton of special junk.
The time has come to tell the truth.
Actually this page is not being assembled by Bill. The real designer, a complete beginer at it, is his Dad. I built this page as a replacement for a very small page we had on a server called HOMESTEAD.com Those guys offered a FREE WEB SITE, where we could build and share an interest, and we fell for it. After about 6 months they suddenly start to flood us with E-mails telling us there would now be a monthly "hosting fee". Hey homestead, your web builder was fantasic. Easy to use and edit and modify. Much much easier and more flexible than this one is. But your hook and bait practices are compleat Bull Shit. See Ya in the funny papers!!!
So here is one last shot of Bill and his Baby
He didn't know I took this one from the back porch. I forget just what the problem was this time. I seem to remember a carb rebuild?

Although Bill didn't assemble this page, he has done 90% of the work on his 3 AMCs. We have had fun finding, fixing, and trouble shooting. Reparing and restoring. Traveling 1500 miles to drag home the wagon was dumb but fun.

However I'm glad the new SX/4 is in very good shape because Spirits seem to be very hard to find at the wreckers. And I'm gettin way to old to go through it all over again. But then again I retire in 4 years, maybe we'll look for more cars from THE DARK SIDE
